We Can Change The Biology of Our Brain!
It's a scientific fact. We actually become what we meditate on, biologically in our brain.
Here's how it works. When we think about something one time, it goes into short term memory. When we begin to think about it again and again, protein synthesis occurs as it moves into long term memory. We are actually creating a pathway of thought physically in our brain. It's a pathway we travel on in our brain through thought.
For example, when we continue to think about a wrong someone did to us or get angry when we feel rejected, or get anxious and afraid in certain situations, these thoughts become physical pathways in our brain.
We can rewire our brain by saying, "No!" We can stop going down those old pathways of thought, bring them to God, repent and change direction. We can then create new pathways of thoughts of forgiveness and love, trust and faith.
It takes time for those old pathways to die physically and for new pathways to be the "norm" for our brain. We must be merciful to ourself as we choose the new pathways and they are developed in us. Let's rejoice because we are actually changing our personality and God's blessings are on their way to us.
God has known this from the beginning which is why He shares with us from His Word:
Psalm 1:1-3 Blessed is the man that walketh not in the counsel of the ungodly, nor standeth in the way of sinners, nor sitteth in the seat of the scornful. 2 But his delight is in the law of the LORD; and in his law doth he meditate day and night. 3 And he shall be like a tree planted by the rivers of water, that bringeth forth his fruit in his season; his leaf also shall not wither; and whatsoever he doeth shall prosper.
Just thinking!
