Love & The Father's Love

Love

Song

Love is Stronger

by Jason Crabb

Thank you Father God for loving me and giving me people in my life that loved me through the healing process. Your love and their love made me stronger and gave me the hope to fight for my life. You are an awesome God who forgives all our iniquities, who heals all of our diseases, who redeems our life from destruction, who crowns us with lovingkindness and tender mercies, and I will bless your holy name all the days of my life!

Love,

Kim

(Psalm 103:3-4 paraphrased)

Scripture Verses

1 Corinthians 16:14 (NKJV)

Let all that you do be done with love.

Galatians 5:22-23 (NKJV)

22 But the fruit of the Spirit is love, joy, peace, longsuffering, kindness, goodness, faithfulness,

23 gentleness, self-control. Against such there is no law.

1 Corinthians 13:4-13 (NIV)

4 Love is patient, love is kind. It does not envy, it does not boast, it is not proud.

5 It does not dishonor others, it is not self-seeking, it is not easily angered, it keeps no record of wrongs.

6 Love does not delight in evil but rejoices with the truth.

7 It always protects, always trusts, always hopes, always perseveres.

8 Love never fails. But where there are prophecies, they will cease; where there are tongues, they will be stilled; where there is knowledge, it will pass away.

9 For we know in part and we prophesy in part,

10 but when completeness comes, what is in part disappears.

11 When I was a child, I talked like a child, I thought like a child, I reasoned like a child. When I became a man, I put the ways of childhood behind me.

12 For now we see only a reflection as in a mirror; then we shall see face to face. Now I know in part; then I shall know fully, even as I am fully known.

13 And now these three remain: faith, hope and love. But the greatest of these is love.

30 'And you shall love the Lord your God with all your heart, with all your soul, with all your mind, and with all your strength.’ This is the first commandment.

Scripture Verses

Loving Others

Love is an attribute of God. To love others is evidence of a genuine faith.

~ Kay Arthur

John 15:9-13 (NKJV)

Love and Joy Perfected

9 “As the Father loved Me, I also have loved you; abide in My love. 10 If you keep My commandments, you will abide in My love, just as I have kept My Father’s commandments and abide in His love.

11 “These things I have spoken to you, that My joy may remain in you, and that your joy may be full. 12This is My commandment, that you love one another as I have loved you. 13 Greater love has no one than this, than to lay down one’s life for his friends.

John 15:17 (NKJV)

17 These things I command you, that you love one another.

1 Samuel 20:16-17 (NKJV)

16 So Jonathan made a covenant with the house of David, saying, “Let the LORD require it at the hand of David’s enemies.” 17 Now Jonathan again caused David to vow, because he loved him; for he loved him as he loved his own soul.

Romans 12:10 (NKJV)

10 Be kindly affectionate to one another with brotherly love, in honor giving preference to one another;

James 2:8 (NKJV)

8 If you really fulfill the royal law according to the Scripture, “You shall love your neighbor as yourself,”[a]you do well;

Footnotes:

a.    Leviticus 19:18

Galatians 5:13-15 (NKJV)

13 For you, brethren, have been called to liberty; only do not use liberty as an opportunity for the flesh, but through love serve one another. 14 For all the law is fulfilled in one word, even in this: “You shall love your neighbor as yourself.”[a] 15 But if you bite and devour one another, beware lest you be consumed by one another!

Footnotes:

a.    Leviticus 19:18

Matthew 22:37-40 (NKJV)

37 Jesus said to him, “‘You shall love the LORD your God with all your heart, with all your soul, and with all your mind.’ 38 This is the first and great commandment. 39 And the second is like it: ‘You shall love your neighbor as yourself.'[a] 40 On these two commandments hang all the Law and the Prophets.”

Footnotes:

a.    Leviticus 19:18

Leviticus 19:18 (NKJV)

18 You shall not take vengeance, nor bear any grudge against the children of your people, but you shall love your neighbor as yourself: I am the LORD.

Leviticus 19:34 (NKJV)

34 The stranger who dwells among you shall be to you as one born among you, and you shall love him as yourself; for you were strangers in the land of Egypt: I am the LORD your God.

Psalm 133:1 (NKJV)

1 Behold, how good and how pleasant it is for brethren to dwell together in unity!

Galatians 6:10 (NKJV)

10 Therefore, as we have opportunity, let us do good to all, especially to those who are of the household of faith.

Ephesians 5:2 (NKJV)

2 And walk in love, as Christ also has loved us and given Himself for us, an offering and a sacrifice to God for a sweet-smelling aroma.

1 Thessalonians 3:12-13 (NKJV)

12 And may the Lord make you increase and abound in love to one another and to all, just as we do to you, 13 so that He may establish your hearts blameless in holiness before our God and Father at the coming of our Lord Jesus Christ with all His saints.

1 Thessalonians 4:9 (NKJV)

A Brotherly and Orderly Life

9 But concerning brotherly love you have no need that I should write to you, for you yourselves are taught by God to love one another;

John 13:34-35 (NKJV)

34 A new commandment I give to you, that you love one another; as I have loved you, that you also love one another. 35 By this all will know that you are My disciples, if you have love for one another.”

1 Peter 1:22 (NKJV)

The Enduring Word

22 Since you have purified your souls in obeying the truth through the Spirit in sincere love of the brethren, love one another fervently with a pure heart,

1 Peter 3:8-9 (NKJV)

Called to Blessing

8 Finally, all of you be of one mind, having compassion for one another; love as brothers, be tenderhearted, be courteous;[a] 9 not returning evil for evil or reviling for reviling, but on the contrary blessing, knowing that you were called to this, that you may inherit a blessing.

Footnotes:

a.    1 Peter 3:8 NU-Text reads humble.

1 John 4:7-12 (NKJV)

Knowing God Through Love

7 Beloved, let us love one another, for love is of God; and everyone who loves is born of God and knows God. 8 He who does not love does not know God, for God is love. 9 In this the love of God was manifested toward us, that God has sent His only begotten Son into the world, that we might live through Him. 10 In this is love, not that we loved God, but that He loved us and sent His Son to be the propitiation for our sins. 11 Beloved, if God so loved us, we also ought to love one another.

Seeing God Through Love

12 No one has seen God at any time. If we love one another, God abides in us, and His love has been perfected in us.

1 John 4:20-21 (NKJV)

20 If someone says, “I love God,” and hates his brother, he is a liar; for he who does not love his brother whom he has seen, how can he love God whom he has not seen? 21 And this commandment we have from Him: that he who loves God must love his brother also.

Ephesians 4:32 (NKJV)

32 And be kind to one another, tenderhearted, forgiving one another, even as God in Christ forgave you.

1 Thessalonians 5:12-13 (NKJV)

12 And we urge you, brethren, to recognize those who labor among you, and are over you in the Lord and admonish you, 13 and to esteem them very highly in love for their work’s sake. Be at peace among yourselves.

Colossians 3:12-14 (NKJV)

Character of the New Man

12 Therefore, as the elect of God, holy and beloved, put on tender mercies, kindness, humility, meekness, longsuffering; 13 bearing with one another, and forgiving one another, if anyone has a complaint against another; even as Christ forgave you, so you also must do. 14 But above all these things put on love, which is the bond of perfection.

1 John 3:11 (NKJV)

11 For this is the message that you heard from the beginning, that we should love one another.

1 John 3:16 (NKJV)

16 By this we know love, because He laid down His life for us. And we also ought to lay down our lives for the brethren.

1 Peter 4:8 (NKJV)

8 And above all things have fervent love for one another, for “love will cover a multitude of sins.”

Proverbs 17:17 (NKJV)

17 A friend loves at all times, and a brother is born for adversity.

Mark 12:31-33 (NKJV)

31 And the second, like it, is this: ‘You shall love your neighbor as yourself.’ There is no other commandment greater than these.” 32 So the scribe said to Him, “Well said, Teacher. You have spoken the truth, for there is one God, and there is no other but He. 33 And to love Him with all the heart, with all the understanding, with all the soul, and with all the strength, and to love one’s neighbor as oneself, is more than all the whole burnt offerings and sacrifices.”

Luke 6:35 (NKJV)

35 But love your enemies, do good, and lend, hoping for nothing in return; and your reward will be great, and you will be sons of the Most High. For He is kind to the unthankful and evil.

Romans 13:8 (NKJV)

Love Your Neighbor

8 Owe no one anything except to love one another, for he who loves another has fulfilled the law.

Ephesians 4:2 (NKJV)

2 with all lowliness and gentleness, with longsuffering, bearing with one another in love,

Matthew 5:43-48 (NKJV)

Love Your Enemies

43 “You have heard that it was said, ‘You shall love your neighbor[a] and hate your enemy.’ 44 But I say to you, love your enemies, bless those who curse you, do good to those who hate you, and pray for those who spitefully use you and persecute you,[b] 45 that you may be sons of your Father in heaven; for He makes His sun rise on the evil and on the good, and sends rain on the just and on the unjust. 46 For if you love those who love you, what reward have you? Do not even the tax collectors do the same? 47And if you greet your brethren[c] only, what do you do more than others? Do not even the tax collectors[d] do so? 48 Therefore you shall be perfect, just as your Father in heaven is perfect.

Footnotes:

a.  Matthew 5:43 Compare Leviticus 19:18

b.  Matthew 5:44 NU-Text omits three clauses from this verse, leaving, “But I say to you, love your enemies and pray for those who persecute you.”

c.  Matthew 5:47 M-Text reads friends.

d.  Matthew 5:47 NU-Text reads Gentiles.

Loving Yourself

We were created to Give & Receive Love

God created us to give love. He created us to receive love. He created us to enjoy love. We know that because He created us in His image, and He IS Love! Any Unloving spirit that tells us otherwise is in violation of Scripture. Let's give the devil a headache and love ourselves with the love God has for us!

A breakdown in relationship with us and God, us and others, or us and ourselves is the foundation for disease. We have to resolve these relationships before healing can come. We must resolve our relationship with God. We must accept ourselves and who we are. We must make peace with our brother. Let's begin to ask God to show us where the breakdown in relationship started, so we can begin the journey to healing and wholeness!

Loving Yourself is the Way to Health

Did you know the Bible says to love yourself? It says in Matthew 22:39 to love your neighbor as yourself. Now, we are all imperfect and we all fail sometimes and may slip into Bitterness, Fear, or Jealousy. Our responsibility is to walk in the light, which means to repent - to God and those around us, trust Him to change us in His timing and above all, to love God and love ourselves! Let's work on being love to the person God created today - YOU!

This is good news: God is not out to kill us or to give us disease.

Psalm 103:2-3 Bless the Lord, O my soul, and forget not all his benefits: Who forgiveth all thine iniquities; who healeth all thy diseases.

Scripture Verses

God's Love

1 John 4:8 (NKJV)

8 He who does not love does not know God, for God is love.

1 John 4:9-10 (NKJV)

9 In this the love of God was manifested toward us, that God has sent His only begotten Son into the world, that we might live through Him. 10 In this is love, not that we loved God, but that He loved us and sent His Son to be the propitiation for our sins.

John 3:16 (NKJV)

16 For God so loved the world that He gave His only begotten Son, that whoever believes in Him should not perish but have everlasting life.

1 John 4:15-19 (NKJV)

15 Whoever confesses that Jesus is the Son of God, God abides in him, and he in God. 16 And we have known and believed the love that God has for us. God is love, and he who abides in love abides in God, and God in him. 17 Love has been perfected among us in this: that we may have boldness in the day of judgment; because as He is, so are we in this world. 18 There is no fear in love; but perfect love casts out fear, because fear involves torment. But he who fears has not been made perfect in love. 19 We love Him because He first loved us.

John 16:27 (NKJV)

27 for the Father Himself loves you, because you have loved Me, and have believed that I came forth from God.

Romans 8:37-39 (NKJV)

37 Yet in all these things we are more than conquerors through Him who loved us. 38 For I am persuaded that neither death nor life, nor angels nor principalities nor powers, nor things present nor things to come, 39 nor height nor depth, nor any other created thing, shall be able to separate us from the love of God which is in Christ Jesus our Lord.

Jeremiah 31:3 (NKJV)

3 The Lord has appeared of old to me, saying: “Yes, I have loved you with an everlasting love; therefore with lovingkindness I have drawn you."

Proverbs 8:17 (NKJV)

17 I love those who love me, and those who seek me diligently will find me.

1 John 3:1 (NKJV)

1 Behold what manner of love the Father has bestowed on us, that we should be called children of God![a] Therefore the world does not know us,[b] because it did not know Him.

Footnotes:

a.   1 John 3:1 NU-Text adds And we are.

b.   1 John 3:1 M-Text reads you.

Romans 5:8 (NKJV)

8 But God demonstrates His own love toward us, in that while we were still sinners, Christ died for us.

Love and Care of the Father

Psalm 145:20 (NKJV)

20 The Lord preserves all who love Him, but all the wicked He will destroy.

Proverbs 3:11-12 (NKJV)

11 My son, do not despise the chastening of the Lord, nor detest His correction; 12 For whom the Lord loves He corrects, just as a father the son in whom he delights.

Isaiah 38:17 (NKJV)

17 Indeed it was for my own peace that I had great bitterness; but You have lovingly delivered my soul from the pit of corruption, for You have cast all my sins behind Your back.

Romans 5:5 (NKJV)

5 Now hope does not disappoint, because the love of God has been poured out in our hearts by the Holy Spirit who was given to us.

Romans 8:37 (NKJV)

37 Yet in all these things we are more than conquerors through Him who loved us.

Ephesians 2:4-6 (NKJV)

4 But God, who is rich in mercy, because of His great love with which He loved us, 5 even when we were dead in trespasses, made us alive together with Christ (by grace you have been saved), 6 and raised us up together, and made us sit together in the heavenly places in Christ Jesus,

Philippians 1:6 (NKJV)

6 being confident of this very thing, that He who has begun a good work in you will complete it until the day of Jesus Christ;

7 casting all your care upon Him, for He cares for you.

Zephaniah 3:17 (NKJV)

17 The Lord your God in your midst,

The Mighty One, will save;

He will rejoice over you with gladness,

He will quiet you with His love,

He will rejoice over you with singing.”
